Tailoring Trousers of Distinction

Since 1962

A Legacy Started by Ampelio Rota

Since 1962, we’ve crafted trousers in our family-owned atelier in Italy. With each length of cloth, with each stitch, with each thoughtfully tailored detail, our trousers echo the vision of our founder.

Founded in Fidenza

Rota was founded in 1962 by Ampelio Rota with a clear vision: to bring trousers to the forefront of men’s style through uncompromising Italian craftsmanship.

A Second Generation

In 1970, Ampelio’s son, Emilio, joined the company — now serving as its president and custodian of the Rota legacy. Emilio's brother and sisters also joined the company in the years that followed.

Our Pitti Uomo Debut

Rota made its debut at the iconic Pitti Uomo fair in Florence, where the brand was introduced to a global audience of menswear connoisseurs — a tradition that continues to this day.

A New Home

In 1986, Rota established its headquarters in a larger facility in Fidenza, where every pair of trousers is still crafted to this day.

1990

An Icon is Born

In 1990, Rota introduced the Rotasport line — the first collection of garment-dyed and washed trousers, reimagining sartorial tailoring through a more contemporary, casual lens.

A Home in Milan

In 2000, Rota opened its first showroom in the heart of Milan, creating a space where craftsmanship and clientele could meet in the city that defines Italian style.

A Third Generation

In 2010, Andrea and Michele Rota became the third generation to join the family business. As of today, nine members of the Rota family work in the company — honouring the traditions established by Ampelio while helping to shape a new era of refinement and growth.

From Atelier to Online

2019 marked a new chapter for Rota — moving beyond quietly crafting for others to share its own story and products directly with customers through its online boutique.

Crafted with Clean Energy

In 2024, we installed a photovoltaic system at our Fidenza headquarters, allowing all production to run on 100% green energy — a continuation of our commitment to responsible craftsmanship.

Made in Italy

More than a mark of origin, it embodies a tradition of craftsmanship.
